GENERAL INFORMATION

No racer fee!  Sponsors have covered the race fees for all participants.  THANK YOU to the sponsors!

Mt. Bachelor Trail Passes:

A valid Play Forever Pass is needed to enter the Mt. Bachelor Nordic Trails. Vouchers for validating your Mt. Bachelor Play Forever pass were sent to coaches to be disseminated to their team racers and coaches. Anyone with a Mt. Bachelor Nordic season pass can use that pass instead of vouchers. The volunteer coordinator distributes vouchers to volunteers on skis. Questions regarding vouchers can be directed to andrearshockey@gmail.com.

Spectators on foot are allowed access to ONLY the stadium area:

You will not be allowed to go elsewhere on the trail system on foot. You must use the specially marked and fenced route. Signs will guide you.

USE OF NORDIC LODGE:

Use of the interior of the Nordic Lodge by anyone affiliated with the OISRAN race is prohibited unless purchasing food or tickets.  Portable toilets are to be used and are available at the entrance gate, the team area and near the finish.

TEAM TENT AREA is in the STADIUM

  • Please tell skiers to keep all ski bags, packs, etc. out of the Nordic Center and use the designated area for team tents for any personal belongings.
  • Any large items, such as tents/tables, can be left at the Stadium overnight on Friday as long as they are 2-3 feet off the groomed surface, they do not have to be hauled in and out on Friday.

FOOD Provided for OISRAN racers, coaches and volunteers on Saturday

  • South Eugene is graciously providing food on Saturday! It will be in the stadium and be signed with “Food for all OISRAN racers.”

MEDICAL:

First Aid kit, other medical supplies, and OISRAN Medical Personnel will be in a Blue Tent near the finish line. Mt. Bachelor Ski Patrol will be available for emergencies needing snowmobile assistance. For backup assistance, call Nordic Center @ 541-693-0999. If no answer, call 541-693-0911 for Mountain Ski Patrol.

Coaches Meetings:

Friday, Feb. 21st -12:45 p.m. MANDATORY in the stadium near the announcer’s tent

Friday, Feb. 21st -3:45 pm IF NEEDED in the stadium near the timing hut

Saturday, Feb. 22nd -7:45 am IF NEEDED in the stadium near the announcer’s tent

TECHNIQUE ZONE – Saturday Classic Race:

  • There will be a “Technique Zone” on 1 climb. The Technique Zone will be marked with signs on the map. Double Poling (with or without a kick) is prohibited in the Technique Zone. Within the TZ skiers must use the diagonal stride technique comprised of alternating diagonal movements of both arms and legs and includes diagonal stride and herringbone techniques without a gliding phase. In diagonal technique, only one or no pole is in the ground at any time.

  • The classic race technique zone is short. It is on the steepest section of Easy Up near the top, and begins where Easy Up turns right.

TIMING:

  • No start wand for Saturday’s Classic race.
  • Skiers for Saturday’s Classic race start on the “GO” command.  Early starts will be noted by the Start Supervisor, and skiers will gain no advantage by starting early.  A skier with an early start that is greater than 3 seconds gets an automatic 15-second penalty. Early starts will delay the awards ceremony because recalculations are time-consuming.
  • Live Timing will NOT be used.

UNOFFICIAL RESULTS:

  • Webscorer link to Results will be the site for the unofficial race results. Unofficial results will be labeled as “Preliminary Results”
  • Deadlines for reporting timing errors AFTER Preliminary Results are posted:
    • For Friday’s race, deadline is 4:00 p.m. Friday or 15 minutes after posted. Use WhatsApp or call Andrew @ 541-390-8275 or email davis40@eou.edu to report errors.
    • For Saturday’s race, deadline is 12:15 p.m. to report timing errors to Andrew at timing shed

If the Technical Delegate receives notification of an infraction that will go to a jury meeting, Coaches will be notified by WhatsApp if one of their skiers has such an infraction.

VARSITY RELAY RACES:

  • Varsity relay bibs will be given to coaches at the Saturday morning coaches check-in.
  • MAKE SURE you have given the correct bibs to the correct gender team- this is a huge timing issue if it gets mixed up. See the WhatsApp group text regarding this.

  • Varsity relays may not mix genders or teams and must have at least two skiers. If a team has only two competitors for a Varsity relay team, then those two racers will compete in the first two legs of the relay, and a dummy time (a time equivalent to the slowest time of the third relay leg) will be added to their composite time. That total time will be compared to the total times of the other Varsity relay teams arriving at the finish position.

  • Costumes are not allowed in Varsity races at the State Championships event. (Rule 10.6.10)
  • Use the cards attached to the relay bibs to turn in names to the timing shed for Varsity Relay legs on SATURDAY if not done previously on WhatsApp. You may turn in name prior to the race by texting the WhatsApp group. Names for VARSITY relay skiers can also be submitted at any time, even after the races are over
  • Schools must enter a Varsity relay team to get a team score (Freestyle Pts + Classic Pts + Relay Pts = Team score)

JV RELAY RACES:

  • Pick up JV Relay Bibs on Saturday after the individual race (around 11:00) at
the timing hut. BIBS CAN ONLY BE PICKED UP BY A COACH
  • JV teams can be co-ed and/or mixed schools. THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR VARSITY RELAYS.
  • JV Relay bib sets are assigned to the BOYS JV Relay race, CO-ED JV Relay race, or the GIRLS JV Relay race. At the JV bib pickup location, coaches will tell the JV Bib Volunteer how many JV bib sets of each category they want.
  • JV Relay bib sets are pre-loaded into the Webscorer app according to BOYS JV Relay race or the GIRLS JV Relay race. CO-ED teams are pre-loaded into the BOYS Relay race.
  • Coaches can mix teams and genders. HOWEVER, the bib numbers assigned to the BOYS JV Relay race or CO-ED JV Relay race must race in the BOYS JV race, and bib numbers assigned to the GIRLS JV Relay must race in the GIRLS JV race.
  • No dummy times will be calculated for JV Relay teams that have only 2 racers.
  • JV relays – For JV relay races at the State Championships event, the racer’s bib must be worn over all parts of a ‘costume’ (including a cape) so that the bib number is clearly visible from all directions (front, back, and sides) at all times.
